Reviews
"In the story of the ongoing struggle between man and nature (not to mention between man and man), the chainsaw makes for a surprisingly colourful chapter." --Stephen Knight, Quill & Quire, "This book fills a gap in recording the history of the chainsaw - its purchase will answer many questiona nyone even remotely interested in chainsaws never considered asking, and for the chainsaw enthusiast it will probably be the only book they ever need, or indeed be able to find." -- Vintage Tractor August 2009

A great book, interesting to learn about the evolution of the industry and how location made it possible for so many companies to be founded. I was most impressed with the history in Canada and how companies were formed from ex employees starting their own businesses and taking the engineering to new levels. I have a small collection of saws and would love to have some of the old saws mentioned in the front half of the book.

a well researched book covering the history of an important tool. both pictures and text are very good, the book is written from a pacific northwest perspective and it also covers other world developments.highly recomended.
