    Not for the uninformed!

    This version of Little Women is for aficionados of Louisa May Alcott's book - the type of followers who have seen every film rendition and know the characters so well that they can quote lines from the book and the movies. It is NOT for those who are unfamiliar or vaguely familiar with the book - simply because the director's choice to jump all over the timeline of the novel will confuse anyone unfamiliar with the characters, In fact - lacking background knowledge of the book and past films - you would be in a fog and (I'll bet) will leave the room to get a beer, some popcorn, make a phone call, and read the sports page - before going back to the living room to pretend to be interested.

    Not what I was expecting

    This is more about Jo's journey, not so much the Little Women" story I was interested in. I didn't like the looking back-jumping forward throughout the film. If I had not been familiar with the book, I would have gotten lost. I really just wanted the little women story. I've watched the older renditions, also the one with Susan Sarandon as Marmee, thought this would be good , was disappointed... should have read reviews, I guess. Actors were good. I liked the PBS series also.
