Very, very good series in my opinion! Doesn't pull any punches. Shows the good, the bad and the ugly! It's honest, at least it seems so to me as an outsider! Captures the heart & soul of those residents that will forever love their home. Series is able to show the music & N.O. culture is who they are at their core! Very compelling! Also does not hide the serious crime problem & blatant corruption at all levels. Seriously makes me want to move there if not for the violent crime! YES, I liked it! out of the norm show. music is inspiring to hear
discs play fine. price was good. this is a used copy, the plastic disc holder trays broke away from the board packaging. never seen that happen before . not too concerned, tho. I put the dvds into paper sleeves. the outer box keeps them secure.

Deeply human, and the best music on TV
We got hooked on TREME in its second year (2010-11) so it was a joy to be able to catch up with the first year through the DVD set. TREME is a creation of David Simon (THE WIRE), and he has outdone himself. The subject matter is captivating--New Orleans starting a year or so after Katrina. You meet musician characters in all their musical and racial and class and ethnic variety, law enforcement and lawyers, people in the food and bar business. Every single character is wonderfully limned and acted and the writers' ear for dialogue is terrific. John Goodman, Melissa Leo, David Morse, Khandi Alexander, and Wendell Pierce top the list of great acting, but everyone is excellent in their roles, including "non-actor" New Orleans musicians big and small. A must-see for anyone who loves all things New Orleans.
My review of this series may be jaded, as I love all things New Orleans. That said, I LOVED Treme. The music was fantastic, and I appreciated having the option to watch each episoed with or without commentary. Being a huge music fan, I chose Musical Commentary, which was very insightful. You could also choose to have the song title/artist appear on screen for every song, without spoken commentary. I made my own playlist of NOLA music based on music from the series. The acting and story lines were very moving and interesting. I feel that Treme gives the viewer a good perspective on what life was really like after the Hurricane. Musical History
I am particularly appreciative of the musicians we are able to Hear and see in the first Season …some not even identified… And the sense of actually being there! I am also very interested in the Mardis Gras Indians and their Tradition. I love to watch everyone strut in time to the music coming back from a funeral!
