Decent price. Good product. Valuable memories/family footage found.

Performs like advertised. Was able to watch old tapes that have been in storage and put them on digital form. Good memories were found of both my grandma and my mom, who passed last year.

  • Top critical review

    Product is not fully functional

When I received the product it came with an audio cable instead of the AV cable that should have come with it. No big deal. So I ordered a new AV cable for this make and model. The cable arrived a few days ago. Much to my dismay I can get sound from the device but not the picture. So I am stuck watching the tapes on the flip-out viewer that is designed to use when recording, not viewing. The device itself seems to be of good quality but it does not fill the one need I have and that is to be able to transfer 8mm video to DVD or MP4.

  • Not a Bad Deal!

This camera has lots of very cool features...."Night Vision", Cool fade-out choices, backlighting, etc. My only complaint is that it's a little heavy for today's standards. I'm sure it was very small and light in its day but camcorders are smaller now. It's by NO means huge and clunky tho! (Remember having to carry a battery pack around???)

  • Great Buy

There was only one feature that doesn’t work, and that’s the SVIDEO out. Other than that, the camera works fine. Shipping was on time as expected.

  • A replacement camcorder

This camcorder was purchased to replace a Fujix 890 camcorder manufactured for Fujix by Sony in the early 1980's, that suffered from a fatal inability to either record or play back any video after 20+ years of faithful service when it was replaced by a Canon Vistura DV camcorder. The Fujix was then relegated to the role of a video transfer deck until it's recent demise. The camcorder meets my needs and expectations in all respects except for one minor detail. Although it plays standard 8mm video, as advertised, the audio, which had been recorded on the Fujix 890 Standard 8mm with Hi Fi Stereo sound, can only be transferred as a monaural signal. In most cases this shortcoming is insignificant, although there are a few scenes that I am transferring that lose some of the aural impact ...
