    Tried and True

    This older model Canon PowerShot is a great solid little camera with lots of nice features. I use the semi-manual setting (Tv) most of the time and that function works so much better on this older model than on the newer models, in my experience. The camera has a sturdy feel to it (but not heavy) that doesn't feel cheap or like it might break at any minute, unlike some of the newer cameras out there. And, the image on the display before and during the shot matches the final image as far as lighting and such, an important feature that I found to be lacking in some newer models of this same camera.

    Of all the cameras I have had and have this is the best

    This was my first slightly more advanced camera and is what I learned photography on. Not long after buying mine years ago I joined a photo club and the other members - who all had DSLRs- were stunned at the photos I was getting with just a simple point and shoot. The macro mode combined with image stabilization give you access to a world of photography that you can't get without spending thousands of dollars on lenses for a DSLR. Best of all was the ability to use AA batteries. By using Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries, I could get 700-800 photos easily on one pair of batteries. Instead of having to find a place to charge batteries, I could run in a store and buy more. My little camera finally wore out after about 6 years of very heavy use ( and some abuse).
