I have confidence buying from Japanese sellers on E-Bay because their descriptions are accurate, honest and they do not try and sell faulty equipment, pretending that it has some useful value, when it does not.
E-Bay listings posted by UK sellers frequently list items with mentions of obscure faults and imperfections at unrealistic prices. From my experience, Japanese sellers try hard to be honest when describing their items.

Item was delivered as advertised. It arrived 24 hours earlier than I expected. The lens had both lens caps, and was in good condition from delivery. The lens was very well-packaged, which indicates to me that the seller cares. $40 shipping. If it had been $20, I would have been happy to wait another week or two for delivery. But no big deal. Good communication from seller. He advertised it as being mint, and it was pretty much mint.
