The view finder was listed as working. When I received it, even though it was packaged very well, the pull down handle when released rests too far over to where the picture is stereoscopically distorted. The seller did not have another one to swap with. After a serious thought, I was able to correct the pathway of the handle somewhat. The eBay process for a full refund wasn’t worth pole-vaulting through. The seller refunded $7.00. In this case, I would have refunded fully on the spot.

    Awesome lens!

This lens is very good, light, bright and clear. It catches focus very fast.

  • What's promised...

Having sold canon products for about three years, it is my opinion that they make mediocre products that are over priced and usually cater to people that could care less about quality photos. The canon EF lens I purchased, however, breaks away from canon's other wares and shows a good side of canon that has, as of lately, altered my previous thoughts and views on their products. This lens is not only durable, but is a willing and able tool that will demonstrate its practicality time and time again if one has the chance to try it out in the field. I have only owned it for about a month and it has truly surpassed my expectations. I would be surprised to hear of anyone bad mouthing the lens simply because, it does what it was built to do and is a lot stronger then its body gives it ...

  • Decent zoom lens for outdoor use

Ok, well I'm fairly new to DSLR photography but from my experience this lens has quite a good range for a low price. However, because the F stops are at 5.6, low light photography will be VERY difficult with this lens without using a higher ISO which will create alot of noise. I haven't had the chance to really shoot much with the lens yet, but as stated, for out door use, it should be a pretty good lens with a vast range for a variety of photos. But for indoor or low light use, i would try a better lens. Rob FrostbyteTalon

  • Exactly what I needed.

The USM series does me well--I know it's not Image Stablization, but they're there and cheaper, which is helpful. The 28-90 is sturdier than the 28-80 stock lens that came with my old camera, and I needed a lens that would work on my 35mm and not just my digital (the Sigma DC series is "designed for APS-C sensors" and therefore vignettes full-frame film or digital cameras.) Could ask for wider apertures, but one could always ask for that. All in all, a solid starter lens.

  • Canon EF 28-90 f/4-5.6 USM Lens

For the price this is not that bad of a lens. It does have a couple of short falls in my opinion though. Not being an ultrasonic lens it is fairly noisy... for me that didn't really matter as I usually I am not taking pictures where I need it to be quiet. The other thing for me is that the control for the zoom seems to be very tight and doesn't move fluidly like my other two Canon lenses. But at the same time this one was more than $100 less than either of my other ones too. Want a decent lens at a good price... get this lens. Want a great lens... buy the more expensive ultrasonic lenses. You get what you pay for when it comes to a lens.
