This is used to replace the modern I had been renting from Comcast. The modem has the same features as the modem I rented. Four LAN ports, two telephone ports, two USB ports. It has battery backup to allow for use of your phone in case of power outage. It does not come with a battery; you have to purchase the battery separately. No More Xfinity/Comcast Modem Rental!
Replaced xfinity's $14/mo. rented modem/router & the swap was easy - EXCEPT that I couldn't get my xfinity voice/landline phone to work. The xfinity/Comcast person assisting me said they had done everything & I should probably contact Netgear. This was a refurbished unit & thinking it was faulty & would have to go back, I called xfinity again about reinstalling xfinity's original equipment. The agent I got this time promised to get my purchased unit working and voila! She did it! FYI, what was confusing & the first agent didn't make clear was that when activating, you need to use the factory-assigned user name & password from the factory sticker on the unit. I was incorrectly attempting to register with my personal xfinity account's user name & password. This Netgear C7100V works fine & ... The Netgear C7100V Modem/Router was easy to setup. Used the Xfinity App to activate it. Much easier than having to wait on phone for customer service to activate it. The Netgear works flawless and has excellent WiFi range throughout the house. A good value than paying equipment rental fees.
