About this product

Product Information

MURDER AHOY!: There's something fishy aboard the HMS Battledore, a training ship designed to give young hoodlums a chance at new lives. When Miss Jane Marple comes aboard to investigate, she discovers that someone is training the delinquents to be better thieves instead of good citizens.MURDER MOST FOUL: Miss Marple joins a theatrical troupe whose specialty is death scenes. Convinced that one of her fellow actors is playing the part of murderer for real, Miss Marple sets out to pinpoint the killer and set a trap.MURDER AT THE GALLOP: MURDER AT THE GALLOP is based on Agatha Christie's AFTER THE FUNERAL. When wealthy old Mr. Enderby dies, his not-so-bereaved relatives gather for the reading of the will. There, Aunt Cora inquires as to the cause of Mr. Enderby's death, only to be silenced in the same fashion.MURDER SHE SAID: Dozing in her train seat, the English gentlewoman Miss Jane Marple awakens in time to witness a dreadful strangulation aboard a passing train. When she cries "Murder!" to the police, they tell her that she was only dreaming. Undaunted, she sets out to find the truth, even if it means uncovering an extra body or two.

The seller responded quickly to a price offer and packed the book I purchased very well. It arrived in good order and was mostly as shown in the photos of the listing. I was not able to see a minor ding in the book jacket from the photos but it was accurate enough.

"Light, fun loving fare with wonderful veteran actors"

She is a HOOT ! ! Her guest stars are as well. I love Lionel Jefferies as the zany captain in, " Ship Ahoy". I also have long liked the character actor sidekick that Margaret Rutherford had in," Murder At The Gallop". Clean, silly, fumbling fun. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves Agatha Christie. Dame Rutherford was by far the best actress in her portrayal of Miss Marple. Janele Coleman

  • 'Seeing Dame Margaret Rutherford.

I am an Agatha Christie's faithful reader since my earlier years and have all the books she wrote (about 88), including her biography, and I might say that know her work and characters quite well. Since I began to consult eBay's DVDs catalogues, I discovered the real pleasure of seeing and reviewing those wonderful mysteries books of my youth. I have bought several BoxSets with Miss Marple different players, as well as Poirot's, ever since. My decision of buying 'The Agatha Christie's MISS MARPLE Movie Collection', featuring Dame MARGARET RUTHERFORD, brought additional pleasure I never expected. The movies in white/black caught the very atmosphere those British murder mysteries should have. Dame Margaret gave to her performance the perfect comedy touch ...

  • At Last - Miss Marple Movies on DVD

As long time fans of Agatha Christie, we was excited to see that the 4 original Miss Marple movies made back in the early 1960's were finally available on DVD. Our 20 plus year old VHS copies of these movies were showing their age from all the years of viewing. The movies are in glorious black and white, just the way traditional British murder mysteries should be viewed. Dame Margaret Rutherford is perfect in the role of Miss Marple. She was already in her 70's at the time and brings her long time acting skills to the screen. Continuous roles of Jim Stringer (played by her real life husband, Stringer Davis) and Inspector Craddock (played by Australian actor, Charles Tingwell) brings enjoyable wit and humor to each of the movies. We find these movies light hearted and extremely ...

  • An Earlier Miss Marple

Like many, I started watching Agatha Christie's movies on television with Miss Joan Hickson playing Miss Marple and David Suchet and Peter Ustinov playing Hercule Poirot. Later, I started reading Agatha Christies books (about two dozen so far) and found another perspective to the characters. I had seen this set in catalogs before but i never ordered it. I later found it on Ebay and decided to finally buy it. Margaret Rutherford gives a slightly comical air to Miss Marple in contrast to the more serious portrayal by Joan Hickson. The set contains four episodes one of which has a cameo role by Joan Hickson. An interesting trend followed later by David Suchet playing Inspector Japp to Peter Ustinov's Poirot. Agatha Christie fans should surely appreciate Margaret Rutherford's performances as ...

  • Wonderful character actress.

I have always loved Margaret Rutherford. She is totally charming and fun as Miss Marple. Of the four films I would rate Murder at the Gallop as the best. And we get to see Margaret on a horse, side saddle no less. Wonderful stuff. I can watch these over and over and never be bored.
