About this product

Product Information

"One of the most enjoyable marriages of the fantasy and mystery genres on the shelves,"( Cinescape ) the Dresden Files have become synonymous with action-packed urban fantasy and nonstop fun. Fool Moon continues the adventures of Jim Butcher's most famous--and infamous--reluctant hero... You'd think there'd be a little more action for the only professional wizard listed in the Chicago phone book. But lately, Harry Dresden hasn't been able to dredge up any kind of work: magical, mundane, or menial. Just when it looks like he can't afford his next meal, a murder comes along that requires his particular brand of supernatural expertise. There's a brutally mutilated corpse, and monstrous animal markings at the scene. Not to mention that the killing took place on the night of a full moon. Harry knows exactly where this case is headed. Take three guesses--and the first two don't count...

Praise for the Dresden Files "Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer starring Philip Marlowe."-- Entertainment Weekly "Fans of Laurell  K. Hamilton and Tanya Huff will love this series."-- Midwest Book Review   "Superlative."-- Publishers Weekly (starred review)   "One of the most enjoyable marriages of the fantasy and mystery genres on the shelves."-- Cinescape   "Butcher...spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry's wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot."-- Booklist (starred review)   "What's not to like about this series'...It takes the best elements of urban fantasy, mixes it with some good old-fashioned noir mystery, tosses in a dash of romance and a lot of high-octane action, shakes, stirs, and serves."-- SF Site   "A tricky plot complete with against-the-clock pacing, firefights, explosions, and plenty of magic. Longtime series fans as well as newcomers drawn by the SciFi Channel's TV series based on the novels should find this supernatural mystery a real winner."-- Library Journal   "What would you get if you crossed Spenser with Merlin? Probably you would come up with someone very like Harry Dresden, wizard, tough guy and star of [the Dresden Files]."-- The Washington Times, Praise for the Dresden Files "Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer starring Philip Marlowe."-- Entertainment Weekly "Fans of Laurell K. The Dresden Files are a fun read

These books are fun, clever, and a quick read. I enjoy the author's tone a writing style. He has created a character you can't help but like. Beware, you may want to run out and buy a trench coat! ;)

  • supernatural and violent, but lots and lots of fun

This is the second in a series starring urban wizard Harry Dresden, who is a cross between Philip Marlow, Jim Rockford, and Mandrake the magician. This is noir fiction with a supernatural twist, and the violence is strictly designed for the video game crowd - it is horrible and severe, but the main characters always seem to pull through. Like an adult cartoon, or a first person shooter. This particular instance involves a variety of werewolves, not just different ones, but different kinds. You've got recurring characters - his short kung-fu lady detective, his spirit advisor who lives in a skull, the guy who owns the bar with 13 pillars and lots of wood. The dialogue is silly, but the action is superb. This is a good beach book, you'll read it in a couple of days and start looking for the ...

  • Like the Show but much better!

I started watching the Dresden Files before I realized that it was based on this series. I really enjoy the show and think the actor is perfect and he is as well when reading the books. I've read the first two now and they are both fun reads. Like grown up Harry Potter books, he struggles against evil that seems to be after him, the more you read the more you think that is the case. The TV show has made some changes but it is really close but it just isn't as rich as the books are. I saw the show based on the first book and it was a pale shadow even though it was good for TV. This book has werewolves, every variety there is actually, I only thought there was one kind with different names but not according to Harry. The characters of Susan and Murphy deepen in this book, you kind of ...

  • Harry Dresdin is A Wizard Worth Reading About

While I wouldn't rate this as one of the best books I have ever read, it certainly deserves credit for being a very entertaining read. Mr Butcher has integrated paranormal and normal society in a seamless way. Dresdin is a Wizard for hire in modern day Chicago. Mostly he is hired by the Chicago Police Dept. His sense of humanity and humor make these books a great read. Whether or not your willing to "buy" into the poaranormal aspect of the book, you cannot help but to like Harry!

  • Full moon doesn't fool this wizard!

Again, Harry Dresden, detective, as well as Chicago's only wizard, has an ugly supernatural case on his hands. The title probably lets you know that the particular subject of horror in this book are werewolves. Jim Butcher, the author, has another word for these creatures and he explains the name as he explains their transformations. Dresden has to figure out what seems to be is not always what truly is the truth. He fights these creatures and actually befriends a sort of them and they show up in a later book. I really enjoyed the story because the author lets the reader know that a bad person doesn't always start out bad. And that once you've felt and been truly evil, you are never the same.
