About this product

Product Information

The classic pulps were detective stories, horror, fantasy, and science fiction, but in the midst of,this melange developed a significant subcategory,of lurid, titillating tales of lesbian love. Aimed, primarily at a heterosexual audience they offered, readers a glimpse into a secret world of illicit, passion and scandalous sex between delicious and, devilish dames. This book is the first to be,devoted to the cover art of these wildly wicked, novels. Bold, kitschy, colourful, they are fraught, with sexual tension. Includes 200 full colour, illustrations.

  • Strange Sisters: The Art of Lesbian Pulp Fiction by Jaye Zimet

Great book with lots of great paperback covers with info on a great many of them. I'm a great fan of 50's and 60's paperback and magazine art. Though this book has many pictures of book covers I know there are scores of covers that were not included. It would be nice to see a more comprehensive selection of covers. Meanwhile this book is a great buy. Highly recommended.

Great retrospective of an era; beautiful reproductions and commentary. Makes one want to read one or two of these illicit pleasures.
