About this product

Product Information

Knitting looms are flying off the shelves in craft stores because loom-knitting is such an easy craft to take up--it can be learned by both children and adults alike in just a few hours. If you have fond memories of spool knitting (a round wooden spool with a central hole surrounded by four small nails) when you were a child then you know how easy it was to create yards and yards of knitted tubes. Today's loom are just as easy and fun to use! Widely available in craft stores, looms come in a variety of shapes and sizes, some are circular, others rectangular, some tiny and some large. The size of the loom dictates the size of the knitted piece although you can easily join smaller panels together to make larger items. This book is designed as a hands on project resource as well as an essential reference for the growing band of loom knitters. Clear step by step illustrations throughout show how to cast-on, bind-off and knit a wide range of stitches on both round looms and knitting boards. Practice projects are provided for each technique, and there are more then 30 attractive patterns to get the crafter started. - the first book to provide patterns for an increasingly popular tool - comprehensive techniques and information provide the essential back-up manual to supplement the minimal instructions that come with the looms - over 30 quick and easy patterns for sweaters and accessories - written by an expert in the field An Alternate Selection of the Crafter's Choice Book Club

    Helpful and great pictures.

I wish there were more beginner projects. Some of them get rather complicated. I do refer to it for help though.

Had great promise but failed to deliver!

I bought this book specifically for knitting socks. This book covers small and medium sizes. No large sizes and none for men either! So, I'll still have to buy another book and buy one of those adjustable looms.

  • Good Primer For Beginners But Information Jumps Around

New to loom knitting I chose this book based on it being for beginners. The book does well in the introduction portion in the front and then moves into easy projects followed by ones a bit more challenging. One complaint about this book is that it is not set up in a linear logical fashion - at least by my understanding. Bits of related information are in different parts of the book. There are a few things yet that remain a mystery to me that should be explained - maybe I just haven't found it yet. But once you know where to find the info you're looking for this book turns into a valuable reference tool. Another disappointment I have with this book is that it is disproportionately set up to accommodate the circular looms and not the long looms. Perhaps there is a good reason for this ...

  • For newbies or oldtimers, great projects with simple directions. Best yet!

I had bought some knitting looms at a thrift store, but didn't know how to use them. A friend had shown me a hat she had made using this book. I borrowed the book from her for a few weeks. I really liked the variety of patterns and the directions were easy to follow, in fact even easier than the ones that came with the looms. My 14 yr old made two scarves in just a few days, and she has autism. It is hard to find projects she can do independently. I liked the colorful photos of finished projects, as well as the simple diagrams. Since I didn't want to damage my friends book, I searched the local bookstores. Even Barnes and Nobles didn't have it. I ordered one for myself on eBay. I am really glad I did.

  • Great resource!!

I am very new to loom knitting and this book was recommended to me be a few groups I'm involved in. In my opinion, the book is a bit expensive but it is full of very good and useful information. It has easy to follow step by step instuctions and clear pictures for us visual learners! Isela did a fantastic job on this book and I know the next one will be just as good!
