      These "power adapters" are really single purpose sound amplifiers.

      Professional conderser mics have many advantages but their output and rugged design are not in that list. The pre amp (power suppy) listed here solves the weak output. Without this, the mic is unusable. The mic requires an isolation mount usually consisting of rubber mounting arrangement that serves to minimize pick up of ambient noise. I liked the design of this. It uses descrete components as opposed to an integrated circuit. My experience with IC circuits is that if they survive 6 months they usually ouitlast discrete components so it is your choice. IC components are more suseptable to electric surges and other problems that rugged descrete components shrug off. The operation of both is identical. A problem with some is the hum introduce into the sound output.
