The JGS524 model comes from the NetGear ProSafe product series of gigabit Ethernet unmanaged switches. This high-density device includes 24 ports to give you plenty of connectivity options. Link up to 24 devices to your LAN, including desktop computers, printers, gaming consoles, servers, and storage, with each port capable of delivering data at 10 times the speed of fast Ethernet or up to 1,000 megabits per second (Mbps). At full-duplex mode, this unit is even faster, with connection speeds at up to 2,000 Mbps. Integrated with auto-switching and auto-sensing mechanisms, each port automatically detects the appropriate setting for an attached device to provide maximum performance. Coupled with the auto uplink technology, this gigabit switch instantly adjusts the type of Ethernet cable to use for the connected device, whether straight through or crossover. Compliant with several standards defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), this 24-port NetGear device is 802.3x-compliant, which provides support for automatic flow control to manage network traffic.         it's a solid unmanaged switch good speed 1GB.

        I needed to replace an aging desktop switch and wanted something good and reliable. I could have purchased a small switch off the shelf but wanted my dollar to go farther for future upgrades and growth. I already use netgear switches at my home and this one worked great at my work connected to HP switches.

        Excellent Network Switch

        Very easy to use, just plug in what you need and go. Plenty of ports for a home network. Only con that might give it is that it has a fan that has a little bit of a whine, so it’s not too bad

        I am a "fan" of the product!

        A was a little hesitant about the purchase reading some online reviews of fan noise as I was planning on placing this in a living area with a few computers nearby. I am pleased to say that although there is some fan noise it is nowhere near as loud as some reviews have stated. I've tested each port and speeds and connectivity are consistent across the product. Very pleased.

        Good for the price

        Not much to comment this is an unmanaged plug and play 24 port L2 switch...performance appears to be good, only thing I do not like is that the activity light is behind the port number plate so it is difficult to visually see if there is activity on the port...other than that good for the money.
