Reviews
"You can see Salinger's increasing mastery on page after page...If the world survives, as it shows a magnificently stubborn intention of doing, Mr. Salinger's stories will decidedly continue to widen the range of contemporary reading." -- Charles Poore , New York Times, "Brilliant...What makes reading Salinger such a consistently bracing experience is our sense of always being in the presence of something that--whatever it is--isn't fishy." -- Janet Malcolm , New York Review of Books, " Franny and Zooey is one of the few books that I've returned to every year...I love it for its comedy--Salinger's dialogue is wonderful--for its mocking fondness, and as a portrait of a troubled, loving family. I still treasure it and I don't think I've read anything since that has affected me and inspired me as much, both as a reader and a writer." -- David Nicholls , The Guardian

Synopsis
"Perhaps the best book by the foremost stylist of his generation" ( New York Times ), J. D. Salinger's Franny and Zooey collects two works of fiction about the Glass family originally published in The New Yorker . "Everything everybody does is so--I don't know--not wrong, or even mean, or even stupid necessarily. But just so tiny and meaningless and--sad-making. And the worst part is, if you go bohemian or something crazy like that, you're conforming just as much only in a different way." A novel in two halves, Franny and Zooey brilliantly captures the emotional strains and traumas of entering adulthood. It is a gleaming example of the wit, precision, and poignancy that have made J. D. Salinger one of America's most beloved writers.

- e***d (290)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseGreat price for this huge book. Shipping was delayed but not too unreasonable though the book could have been packed a bit better with some bubble wrap as it tore through the very thin mailer envelope. Would recommend seller to cushion heavy books better when using thin mailer envelopes to avoid the tearing and potentially loosing books. Book is as described! Satisfied with my purchase and would buy from again if packaging was more sturdy. Thank you :)
- p***r (142)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAs described ,nice price, quickly shipped but not in a padded envelope, nor with a cardboard padding inside a regular envelope, so corners of book were free to be bumped in transit. They were not. The book looked good even with a tear at one corner of the envelope. Both the seller and the buyer were lucky.
- s***k (121)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseHigh quality book arrived in good condition as described. The book's appearance is satisfactory. A great value! Shipping: Seller shipped promptly. But I received an eBay message saying: USPS made a delivery attempt but were unable to proceed due to an insufficient address. Huh? Also, shipping history said book was "Held at Post Office At Customer Request." I didn't request this to be done! Next day I went to my USPS office. They fished around & found package. My address was correct. Weird.Photographing People (Kodak No Nonsense Photography Guides) - O'Connor, Mich... (#156481824914)
