    Great upgraded heatsink for Dell T5500 main processor

    This heatsink is used in Dell T7500 and T5500 units. THis is used to replace the stock aluminum heatinsk when one upgrades processors that require better heat disipation. There is a "taller" heatsink that looks just like this one but that one only fits in the T7500. This is the largest Dell heatsink that will fit in a T7500 which is what I have. I upgraded my 5500 to CPU's that needed better heat dissipation hence the reason for this heatsink. Just what my workstation needed. Be sure to shop around. Sometimes you can get great deals on these things. I did.

    Almost must have.

    Aluminum block heatsink Dell puts on their workstations has to be replaced with this one, especially if you run tasks taking most cores to 100%. I had temps on front cpu node drop from 85C to 70C with this one. Just use decent Thermal paste and clean surfaces well. It really makes a difference.

    slightly better than stock aluminum heatsink

    with a xeon x5677 (4c/8t 3.45ghz/3.67turbo) this keeps it below 72c under most workloads. however it may still exceed 80c while mining monero or similar stressing applications. this is likely due to its passive cooler design rather than the thermal capacity of the copper heat pipes. still this is far better than the stock aluminium heatsink that came with the t5500 which would overheat while gaming and ran at 50-60c at idle. for $15 i would recommend this but try to find one that includes its own fan as it will perform better

    Dell U016F T3500 T5500 T7500 If you have the all aluminum heatsink scrap it and get one of these.

    Is it quiet? Well I would hope so since it is a formed chunk of copper and aluminum. I may have been a little put off if it loud or even if it whispered things to me. Is it a good value? Was for me for the price I got it for. Your mileage may vary. Does it perform well? Works great for my 95w X5670 in my T5500. Temps are 31-35c at idle and 73-77c under load from 5 minutes of prime95 stress testing. The only bad thing about this heatsink is that it wasn't the base option in the T3500 and T5500.

    Must buy for Dell precision t5500

    Great for Dell precision t5500.the heatsink fits perfectly and makes the system cool down faster.the results are even better if you use mx4 thermal paste.average idle temps with a xeon x5650 are around 25 degrees Celsius. Better than the stock aluminum heatsink.
