    About this product

    Product Information

Mega Man X and Zero return in Mega Man X5 for the Sony PlayStation. In the fifth game in the franchise, Sigma has set the space colony Eurasia on a crash course with Earth. Mega Man X and Zero only have 16 hours to stop the colony from crashing into their planet. To stop the colony, they will have to gather the parts necessary to launch a shuttle directly into it. These parts are guarded by eight dangerous Mavericks. The two Maverick Hunters will need to destroy all eight of these monsters if they want to stand a chance. In Mega Man X5, players can play the eight stages in any order. The levels are a mix of platforming and shooting, and at the end, you'll encounter a boss. You will need to defeat this boss to earn his or her weapon. While you can defeat every boss with your original weapon, some bosses are weak to other boss weapons. The challenge is attempting to figure out which weapons work on which bosses. Each Maverick is based on an animal. For example, Duff McWhalen has features based on a whale while Skiver is a Maverick who looks like a Pegasus. For the first time in the Mega Man X franchise, players can choose between X and Zero at the start of the game. Mega Man uses his trusty Mega Buster while Zero primarily attacks with his Z-Saber. While you can switch between characters between stages, the character you don't initially select is weaker. In each stage, you'll find hidden armor pieces to power up your character. For example, X's Ultimate Armor lets him take more damage and do more damage to his foes. In Mega Man X5, each time you play a stage, Eurasia comes closer and closer to crashing. At any point in the game, you can fire a giant laser at it. If this laser misses, you have to use the backup plan, which is ramming a shuttle into it. The chances of your plan working are improved with each Maverick you defeat. You will also need to be careful not to contract the virus yourself. Certain enemies will look to infect Mega Man and Zero with a deadly virus. Depending on the character you play as well as what happens to Eurasia, the ending is different each time. This game provides built-in replayability as players will want to experience all of the different endings.Mega Man X5 by Capcom sports retro graphics. The graphics are hand-drawn 2-D sprites and are some of the best the series has seen up to this point. The graphics are colorful and vibrant with attacks typically filling the whole screen. This PlayStation game from Capcom is another excellent entry in the Mega Man franchise of games. The tried-and-true formula of the franchise combined with the new features gives gamers something truly original. Even after you defeat Sigma, you'll find yourself wanting to come back to this PlayStation 1 game over and over again.

X5 is the black sheep of the first six Mega man X games

After having played all the Mega man X1 X2 X3 X4 and X6 games, I decided to give X5 a try. All I can say is that the soundtrack is rather bland and generic and doesn't have many tracks that stand out. The level designs are also quite bland and uninspired taking much of the design from the superior X4. Levels are too similar to already existing stages from X4 such as Grizzly Slash's stage being a complete ripoff of Slash Beast's stage, and Izzy Glow's stage has the same exact spiral staircase from Split Mushroom's stage. The mavericks are also quite poorly designed and uninspired, not to mention lame. And the worst part about this game? Alia! She will NOT shut up for anything and will constantly be bothering you about the stage often times telling you things that you already know. Oh and the ...
