    About this product

    Product Information

For players who enjoy video games that are challenging and exciting, X-Men for Sega Genesis will provide that easily. This game was designed by Bruce Straley, Steven Ross, and Jeff Fort, developed by Western Technologies Inc., and published by Sega in 1993 exclusively for the Sega Genesis console. X-Men for Sega Genesis is a platform action game, meaning that it features two-dimensional graphics in which the player controls a character jumping or climbing between solid platforms at different positions through action-packed scenes. The gameplay view is 16-bit side scrolling and is able to be played in both single-player and multiplayer settings. The X-Men for Sega Genesis game is based on the very popular superhero team created by Marvel Comics. It begins in the Danger Room, which is a training area for the X-Men inside of X-Mansion. One of the X-Men’s arch nemeses, Magneto, has created a virus that was transmitted via satellite to infect the Danger Room. The X-Men must find the location of the virus and eliminate it along with the villain who created it. There are four X-Men to choose from to defeat the virus and Magneto: Wolverine, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Cyclops. Each character has the ability to fight, jump, and use his unique superpower to battle through each stage of the game. The superpower each character is able to use is limited by a mutant power bar, which is depleted with use and slowly regenerates throughout the game. Each X-Men character also has their own unique weapons, attributes, and fighting techniques, so strategy can be used when battling through each level. Wolverine uses retractable claws in order to enhance the strength of his regular punches and execute special mid-air attacks. Gambit uses his trademark Bo staff as a weapon to enhance his fighting techniques. Cyclops uses rebounding optic blasts as his battle technique. Nightcrawler has the ability to teleport, which allows him to skip many areas or transport a secondary character. Even while playing with the four main characters some battles can become challenging, but you can call upon secondary X-Men characters to come to your aide. These X-Men include Storm, Iceman, Archangel, Jean Grey, and Rogue, who each have their own special fighting techniques, weapons, and attributes to help you through the toughest battles in order to reach Asteroid M and defeat Magneto and his diabolical plan. After leaving the Danger Room, the X-Men travel through six challenging levels – Savage Land, Shi’Ar Empire, Excalibur Lighthouse, Ahab’s World, and Mojo’s Future Crunch – before ending at Asteroid M, which is Magneto’s secret base. At the end of each level, you are met with various villains who try to prevent you from getting through to Asteroid M. You must defeat these bosses before moving on to the next stage. These villains include Juggernaut, Sabretooth, Mojo, Deathbird, and Apocalypse. After challenging feats and exciting battles, the X-Men eventually come face to face with Magneto, the final boss. With strategy and technique, the X-Men can defeat Magneto, destroy the virus, and return the world to safety.

        Sega Genesis Classic

Good X-men game for the genesis, but you need a working reset button to complete the game. I do prefer either X-men 2 Clone Wars or the X-men arcade game. Has decent music and graphics as well and is difficult enough to pose a challenge.

      • Possibly the best X-men game

Yes it’s hard, sometimes unfair! This game ranks up there with the X-Men Arcade, Children of the Atom, X-Men vs Street Fighter, SNES Apocalypse and it’s sequel is just as good- Sega X-Men Clone Wars. The pixel character design on this game are by far superior to all of the aboveexcept COA/Street Fighter. If you are a 90s X-men fan I can’t recommend this enough!

      • X-Men Sega Genesis game

Classic game, great classic graphics for its age, and lots of action. I would recommend this game for all Marvel fans and classic gamers. Also, X-Men 2 is a must buy if you like this one.
