I had to take it apart and clean off some brownish crud that had been spilled on it and around the contacts probably years ago. The contacts were so dirty with built up crud, they had to be lightly sanded with very fine sandpaper and cleaned with a Qtip and alcohol. Finally, the cartridge is fairly clean and works just fine.
