    Highly Addictive Soap Opera!

    I had never watched this while it was on TV. Even a few months ago, before I bought Season 1 to see if I would like it, I read Wikipedia about it and the lives of the characters sounded so convoluted that I was sure it would be a stupid show. And yet, curiosity won out & I have been addicted since the very first episode. The Vampire Diaries is a soap opera. The characters are very "eye candy" although I don't like Elena's whiny attitude. The story lines flow easily between each other. What I love about it is that everyone (at least on the show if not real life) are like a family and stick together, while the protagonists (Season 3 is the Mikaelson family of Original Vampires) frequently betray each other and stab each other in the back, literally.
