"This book includes excellent photography and uses basic language explaining technical terms; it is not an identification guide but gives detailed descriptions of ecology for each genus, something not previously covered before. The book provides the first comprehensive and user friendly guide to North American bees, which is suitable for people wanting an introduction or to expand their knowledge of different bee families. In particular those interested in developing their knowledge and skills of solitary bees will find this book incredibly useful. You do not have to live in North America to find this book of interest as we share many bee families. A worthy addition to anyone's collection." --Nikki Gammans, British Journal of Entomology and Natural History, "This book helps identify the bees that you see. It has more than 900 photos of all of the kinds of bees you'll find, plus the biology of all of the bees included, and how to provide both food and habitat for them. . . . Bee All That You Can Bee

This is a wonderful book. I first heard about the book when I went to a lecture from a bee person that started taking photos of bees he saw. Some of his photos got in this book. The photos are excellent and extensive. While it is not a technical book, it does cover most of the bees that you will ever see. In fact more bees than you probably realized there were. The book covers the different groups of bees including what they eat, what differentiates them other bees, locations, size, characteristics. My granddaughter, just under two years of age, enjoys bees. She sings a song about bees and whenever she sees them she reaches out to pet them. The bees don't really appreciate it but they have not stung her yet. She enjoys looking at the photos in this book.

      • Great reference.

This book arrived quickly, no damage and like new. It has great illustrations and is easy to read. I will take my copy to the presentations our group makes to school children and let them leaf through it with pages marked.

      • Bees In Your Backyard

This is a thorough explanation of different types of bees. Bees are categorized by body types and colors which may make identifying the bees in your back yard easier. The pages are glossy and color photos are really nice. I wish there were common names assigned to some of the bees as well as their formal (I guess Latin) names. I do like the maps that are provided showing the bee's territories. I also like the size of the book. I am very pleased with my purchase. Well done.

      • Great bee identification book

Great book for anyone interested in knowing the native bees that pollinate flowers in your yard. The book is printed on glossy paper, so the illustrations and photos really stand out. Each chapter covers a family of bees, with identification tips that help you distinguish families from one another. Each group of bees has a key to size range, active period in your area and a map showing how likely you are to see the bees in the group. If you are into learning about bees, this is the book for you.
