    Compact, Lightweight,

I had my internal DVD player get "flakey" on me. My main tower computer is a real pain to disassemble to reach the DVD player. I decided to purchase the Samsung player based on their reputation for quality and value. The player is very small and lightweight. I plugged in the USB connector and it was up and running. I didn't bother to load the included software: the Microsoft operating system took care of everything. The unit is somewhat quieter than most of the internal players. There is only 1 button on the front (ejector function). The tray slides out an inch or so and you pull it the rest of the way out. There is the usual pinhole to get the tray to release if power is not available. The tray / mechanism is somewhat fragile: but should be ok for adult hands. The upside is that I ...

    Think mine was a dud

Installed with no issues on a Windows 10 machine and it could read a disc easily. However, just couldn't get it to burn successfully AND the PC kept "losing" the fact that the drive was already installed; had to reboot several times. Even after carefully installing software, updating drive's firmware and going to manufacturer web site (which incidentally had atrocious English), nothing worked. Returned and instead purchased LG GP65NB60 - MUCH better all around!

  • seems good

haven,t used it a lot but it's recognized on my Windows machines from Win Me to Windows 8.1. Seems to read and write and burn well. A little unwieldy ejecting and accepting disks -- but I expected that because it's very thin and I'm also using it with a 2 in 1 notebook. Since it's USB it should also work with just the tablet side though I haven't tried that yet. Since I needed to add a DVD drive to a notebook which has none I'm pretty happy with it.

  • It's a Great Affordable Alternative to Apple's CD Burner

I can't write highly enough about this product. It's easy to use and it's way more affordable than Apple's CD burner. What's more, once can hook this product up to a TV's HDMI port and watch DVD's, which is great for when you're traveling on the road. I highly recommend it.

  • Update of a Lenovo to a Samsung Falsh Drive

The drive was installed into a Lenovo G575. It is currently running Win 7 as there are no drivers for Win 10 and the display brightness cannot be controlled under Win 10. The boot time is the biggest benefit. My normal backup is to copy the drive using a program called Acronis. Since I had only one SSD, I decided to copy it to a standard hard drive. The new drive booted just fine. I will run the flash drive until there is an issue and then use the hard drive as my backup.
