Is the 5-string now the standard electric bass? Maybe. The Ibanez GSR205 Soundgear Bass is a good example. You see them on more stages and hear them in more recordings than ever. But numbers aren't the reason for you to get a 5-string. Extended low end is. And if you've considered adding the extended low end of a 5-string, but found they felt more like baseball bats than basses - then consider this: Soundgear basses have the thinnest neck of any 5-string bass anywhere!
