Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Die immer weiter fortschreitende Internationalisierung von Unternehmen ist schon fast selbstverstandlich geworden, sowohl fur den interessierten als auch fur den beilaufigen Beobachter. Das uberhandnehmende Schlagwort der Globalisierung beansprucht einen zunehmend grossen Platz im oekonomischen sowie politischen Diskurs und loest heftige Auseinandersetzungen aus. Letztendlich ist es kaum einzusehen, dass Globalisierung den bewahrten Terminus Internationalisierung immer mehr verdrangt. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird die Internationalisierung von Unternehmen der Elektrizitatswirtschaft behandelt. Andere Dimensionen der Internationalisierung bzw. Globalisierung, ob politischer, kultureller oder oekologischer Art, werden nur dort behandelt, wo es notwendig ist. Die Internationalisierung von Unternehmen im Generellen wird durch Beitrage aus unterschiedlichen Bereichen der Wirtschaftswissenschaften untersucht. Zu nennen waren die Aussenhandelstheorie, die Theorie der Multinationalen Unternehmen, Standorttheorie, Internalisierungstheorie, Managementtheorie, ohne dass diese Aufzahlung einen Anspruch auf Vollstandigkeit erhebt. Von einer allgemeinen Theorie der Unternehmensinternationalisierung kann man allerdings nicht sprechen, obwohl zumindest der eklektische Ansatz von Dunning von sich behauptet, ein umfassendes Rahmenwerk zu bieten. Das Fehlen, oder besser die Unmoeglichkeit einer allumfassenden Theorie kann im Rahmen dieser Arbeit nicht behoben werden. Vielmehr soll versucht werden, die Internationalisierung vor allem als Prozess zu verstehen und zu behandeln. Als Einstieg sollen die Formen der Internationalisierung, die auch als Markteintrittstrategien aufgefasst werden koennen, beschrieben werden, wobei hier schon Einordnungsprobleme entstehen koennen.
