It connects an imaging device to your computer and it works well

It does the job of connecting an imaging device (in my case, a camera) to a computer for Zoom or other forms of livestreaming. Depending on the imaging device, you may need to get an extra HDMI cable from it to the Elgato card. Your camera might already have come with it--or not. You will also need to download Elgato Video Capture from the Elgato website. It is a free program. I called the Elgato tech support people for installation troubleshooting and they were very helpful. There is plenty of information on the Elgato installation on the internet and some of it is wrong or misleading, so I was floundering for a while. All in all, it is very easy once you know what to do.

  • Top critical review

Unreliable. Look to cheaper off-brand options.

Terrible reliability. Takes me about 15 minutes of disconnecting and reconnecting in various ways to my PC to get OBS to recognize the video stream. You're better off just buying cheap off-brand capture cards until you find something that works for you. In the end you'll have something more reliable and you will spend less money. This is what I ended up doing.

  • Also Works Well for Quality VHS Tape Capture

I have gotten excellent results capturing VHS tapes using the HD60 S. To do this I use an HDMI Composite to Video Converter (Tendak). It takes the VCR analog output and produces a deinterlaced HDMI video stream at either 720p@60fps or 1080p@60 fps. The HD60 S grabs the HDMI signal and writes a raw video file, and optionally, a playable/editable video file. CAVEAT: using the Elgato tools I have consistently gotten quality captures at 720p@60fps. However, you should review the system requirements and give yourself lots of headroom if you want to capture at 1080p@30-60fps. My system only just meets the *minimum* requirements (including an NVEC-compliant NVidea GPU) but it is still not fast enough to keep up. At 1080p the larger format frames have great image quality, but it drop frames. I ...

  • Great for Switch streaming!

Works exactly as intended, the capture card has given me no problems and has been a very easy plug and play solution to start streaming Switch game play. Only note is when playing using the pass through monitor, it makes the image much darker.

  • A little confusing, some recommendations

The software is a little confusing but if you open the capture program through OBS it works much better. If you run it through the elgato program there is audio delay and more video lag. In OBS (and I assume XSplit as well) it works fine with a bit of lag. You may want to upgrade your graphics card based on what you currently have, I need to as well. HD 60s is better than HD60 because it runs instantly through the computer. HD 60 has about a 3 or so second delay between input and display time. The way the 60 works is it needs to also be plugged into a Tv, you still have that option with HD 60s but since the quality is as instantaneous as it is, this isn't as necessary.
