Working fine now, but... The small screw that holds the plug together (see pix) was not set / screwed in completely. This kept the "ring" from getting past it to screw onto the radio. I first attempted to simply screw it in, but it would not budge. So took the whole plug apart and discovered metal "flashing" in the hole for the screw. Used an XACTO blade to ream and remove the flashing. Not difficult to correct, but disappointing this was not seen when this plug was put together (soldered).
