        Complex but fun

        This game is definitely not for the faint of heart. It has a ton of different pieces, and lots of rules. However, if you are big into other strategy games (Catan, Ticket to Ride, etc) this game definitely takes it to the next level. We've played thre or four times so far, and have only used the basic Family Game set-up. My sons and I are interested in trying out the full version soon, but are still working on getting the basics figured out right now.

        Great game. Get the older versions for 1-5 players. Avoid new versions 1-4 players.

        Great game. Different every time because what cards you have give you different options within the game. It is a limited resource game so it can be frustrating while at the same time fun. Of course you can change the rules a little to make things a little easier without making it too easy. We do this. There are online forums devoted to Agricola to check out. Be careful what edition you get and aware of what is in the box. Older versions have cubes for the animals. Next version has 'animeeples' shaped like little animals. Both of those, by Z-man games are for 1-5 players. Since then there is a watered down version with weird game boards that is for 1-4 players. I would not purchase that one. So, buy an old one.
