Synopsis
"HELP! My Students Cant Write!" Why You Need a Writing Revolution in Your Classroom and How to Lead It. The Writing Revolution (TWR) provides a clear method of instruction that you can use no matter what subject or grade level you teach. The model, also known as The Hochman Method, has demonstrated, over and over, that it can turn weak writers into strong communicators by focusing on specific techniques that match their needs and by providing them with targeted feedback. Insurmountable as the challenges faced by many students may seem, TWR can make a dramatic difference. And the method does more than improve writing skills. It also helps: Boost reading comprehension Improve organizational and study skills Enhance speaking abilities Develop analytical capabilities TWR is as much a method of teaching content as it is a method of teaching writing. Theres no separate writing block and no separate writing curriculum. Instead, teachers of all subjects adapt the TWR strategies and activities to their current curriculum and weave them into their content instruction. But perhaps whats most revolutionary about the TWR method is that it takes the mystery out of learning to write well. It breaks the writing process down into manageable chunks and then has students practice the chunks they need, repeatedly, while also learning content. Praise for The Writing Revolution "Every once in a while, you find an outstanding method that is clear, makes sense, and is embraced by teachers and students alike, and whats most important, works! This is how I would describe The Writing Revolution. I have observed it in action, and I have been encouraging teachers to learn about it and use it." Sally E. Shaywitz, M.D., author of Overcoming Dyslexia , The Audrey G. Ratner Professor in Learning Development, Co-Director, Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity "As an author, I am deeply concerned about the vast number of students who cannot express themselves with clarity in their writing. The Writing Revolution is grounded in research, has been proven effective by decades of classroom application, and is impeccable in its logistics." Mary Higgins Clark, bestselling author "The writing strategies discussed in this book are life-changing for students who are exposed to them. A must-read for educational leaders, teachers, and parentsgiving students the power of the pen to write their way to a successful future." Deirdre A. - e***d (292)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseGreat price for this huge book. Shipping was delayed but not too unreasonable though the book could have been packed a bit better with some bubble wrap as it tore through the very thin mailer envelope. Would recommend seller to cushion heavy books better when using thin mailer envelopes to avoid the tearing and potentially loosing books. Book is as described! Satisfied with my purchase and would buy from again if packaging was more sturdy. Thank you :)
- p***r (143)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAs described ,nice price, quickly shipped but not in a padded envelope, nor with a cardboard padding inside a regular envelope, so corners of book were free to be bumped in transit. They were not. The book looked good even with a tear at one corner of the envelope. Both the seller and the buyer were lucky.Fire - Chihuly, Dale - Very Good - See condition notes (#167369993381)
- s***k (123)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseHigh quality book arrived in good condition as described. The book's appearance is satisfactory. A great value! Shipping: Seller shipped promptly. But I received an eBay message saying: USPS made a delivery attempt but were unable to proceed due to an insufficient address. Huh? Also, shipping history said book was "Held at Post Office At Customer Request." I didn't request this to be done! Next day I went to my USPS office. They fished around & found package. My address was correct. Weird.Photographing People (Kodak No Nonsense Photography Guides) - O'Connor, Mich... (#156481824914)
