About this product

Product Information

Link makes his anticipated Game Boy debut in this four-megabit cartridge, which closely follows the visual style introduced in 1992's Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The story picks up after the conclusion of the Super NES game, which has young Link venturing across the sea to continue his training as Hyrule's greatest champion. After a tumultuous storm, Link finds himself shipwrecked on a mysterious island named Koholint. A talking owl tells Link that he needs to awaken a creature called the Wind Fish if he wants to return home. Yet in order to do this, the elfin hero must collect eight musical instruments scattered across the island. The catch? Each instrument is hidden inside a trap-filled cave guarded by entities known as Nightmares.

Link has learned some new moves for his first handheld adventure, including the ability to jump and attack at the same time, and the ability to move his shield to block attacks or to push enemies. Familiar items such as the sword, bow, bomb, hookshot, and magic powder are joined by a number of new tools, such as an acorn, wand, fins, and magical keys. Explore the island's vast overworld to discover an assortment of characters, quests, secrets, and challenges before venturing into each maze-like dungeon in search of the eight musical instruments. Engage in whimsical mini-games, from fishing to treasure hunting with a crane, and save your progress in up to three games to the battery-backed cartridge.

The perfect Zelda game that take place outside of Hyrule.

This Zelda was truly awesome.. It takes place outside of Hyrule. An interesting concept for Zelda fans. It has an amazing story with shocking twist. A twist that leaves link to a shocking dilemma of his journey. With that it game link and other characters personalities with emotions(a first). It's truly a masterpiece.

  • Legend of Zelda:links awakening

I must admit i havent gotten through probably half of the game, but first let me say if anyone has a question its for THE ORGINAL GAME BOY, and can be played on gameboy pocket, gameboy color, and gameboy advanced. NOT nintendo DS. anyway for the first half of the game, i've been blown away by the amount of levels and moving well functioning monsters and enemys for an original GameBoy game. I have been collecting like crazy for about a year now all my old favorites, this not being one of them but a shot in the dark to see what kind of a game it is. well its worth 100% of my 10 dollars i bought it for, and probably much much more. it sticks to zelda 1 for the NES type gameplay, yet its all slammed into one small GB cart. a must have for zelda fans, and a must have for nintendo fans alike. ...

  • Classic

One of the best games of all time. A master class in creating a compelling and brilliant game with the limitations of the time. Holds up just as well as you remember (if you’re my age) or as well as a golden age Nintendo title should. I’m building an off-the-grid library of classics for an expected period of wilderness time, and this certainly made the short list. Metroid 2 still on the way and I should be good.

  • Great Game, a Classic

Many years ago, my dad found a lime green Gameboy Color left by a kid on his bus, and he legally brought it home to me. And that is where it all began. I eventually stumbled on this game and fell in love. This game is fantastic, the music is great, the gameplay is the best of it's time, and still remains top notch. I recommend you playing this. It doesn't matter how you get it, as long as you don't waste your life only playing Halo games, and embrace classics such as this one.
