Mainly only use it to top off my Marine tank when low or to make a 5 gallon of fresh salt water when doing a water change ( 2 cups salt 5 gallon Water gets you real close to 1.024 PPT I love my little marine Fish tank :-)  and you achieve zero TDS drinking water ps I never tried to keep track of just how many gallons I actually get before seeing a 4.5 TDS I think it depends on your water Quality
