The onboard sound on a GA-Z270X-Gaming 7 motherboard never has worked, even after a BIOS update. This little usb sound adapter worked. It may not be high-end multi-channel sound, but now I can listen to video and mpg files though a couple pc speakers. Prompt shipping, 2 or 3 days. Appropriate automated email updates after the order. I think the little adapter only cost about 7 bucks. It looks just like the post photo.

Good if you aren't expecting great!

I only had the standard speaker port on my computer, (no sound card), and it failed. So I had my speakers hooked to the earphone port leaving the wire dangling in front of my DVD player. This let me connect to one of the 16 USB ports I have on my computer. I have a good pair of studio monitors for speakers so I thought the sound was decent for the price. It was plug, and play, no hassle connection. .

Fast and easy fix for failed sound chip

It works, just plug and play. Don't buy this if you want to use it to play music. Not good enough for music even if you have great speakers.

  • Great little device

Perfect little add-on for anyone with a need to bypass the onboard sound device. ie: is it bad or not? Definitely not high quality audio, but great for trouble-shooting and getting quick-fix audio!

  • "just works", quick, easy way to add sound to older systems.

Lots easier to get sound working on systems even that have pci/pci-e slots open, just plug and play. Haven't checked with XP or (ugh) Vista but works fine with Windows 7 and 10 and would expect it to work fine with 8.1 as well. I'm not an audiophile, so don't know if this is the super/best quality there is/can be but for most computer sounds and music playing, it's fine. If you are an audiophile/snob, you shouldn't be looking at $3 sound cards.

  • A quick fix if your PC sound quits

I have a quad core ITX motherboard ( ZOTAC G41-ITX) WiFi. This board builds a really nice quad core based PC, that fits in a nice ITX case. For some inexplicable reason however, the onboard sound died. Since PCI slot space is limited on this motherboard, I ordered this external USB Sound card adapter. I am using Windows 7 and I had no real expectations on how easy it would be to return sound to my pc. It was VERY EASY! It was literally plug and play! A rare event these days. I plugged it into one of my USB ports on the back of the motherboard, and plugged in my headphones into the head phone marked jack, and turned on my PC. Windows booted up, and after some initial installation activity, Windows informed me that it needed to restart for changes to take effect, I complied. Upon ...
