In this dramedy starring Cillian Murphy (28 DAYS LATER) and Colin Farrell (PHONE BOOTH) a series of coincidences and haphazard relationships unite a small group of people living in Dublin. The result is an alternately depressing and humorous sideways glance at the way that people make their life decisions, seen through a group of duplicitous characters each of whom has a stubborn, selfish side and a soft, vulnerable side. With plenty of off-kilter jokes running the gamut from impotence and adultery to pissing and puking, INTERMISSION delivers its crowing potshot to female moustaches--quaintly nicknamed "tash" here. Sally (Shirley Henderson) is the downtrodden young woman with the "tash," and is also the sister of Deirdre (Kelly Macdonald) who is on the rebound after a hard breakup. Her ex-boyfriend John (Murphy) works as a clerk at a department store. His coworker Oscar (David Wilmot) is an impotent shy guy who finally finds a solution with Noeleen (Deirdre O'Kane), an older woman whose husband has just left her for the much-younger Deirdre. Meanwhile the overzealous cop Jerry (Colm Meany) is busy chasing after harmless criminal Lehiff (Colin Farrell). When a shocking bus accident occurs, the characters are brought together and forced to face the reality of their tangled lives.

    Refreshing and Entertaining

    Intermission was a surprisingly enjoyable move. It was filled with great acting, and excellent story lines that revolve around John (Cillian Murphy) who decided he would tell his girlfriend they need to take a break (intermission) to see if she would say no, she wanted him to stay. John continues to make a mess of things by becoming involved with a couple of guys in a robbery scheme which would also allow him to retaliate against the new "boyfriend". A lot of dark humor, and a fabulous opportunity to get a look at Cillian Murphy, by far Ireland's best actor today, in a home grown Irish movie. You WILL want to see more of this refreshing blue eyed young actor.

    Celtic film with well-known actors.

    I liked the opening scene: Colin Farrell shows he can turn on a dime. And the story is an interesting blend of the well-acted characters' intersecting lives. Not quite a chick flick, as the romance has a gritty side and the action is a bit rough. It impressed me as a film the Coen brothers would make if they were Irish. Fun in a Big Lebowski sort of a way.

    Intermission

    There are a few different stories going on at the same time in this movie. It has suspenseful moments, violent moments & funny moments. The Irish accent is a bit thick at times, but there are subtitles you can use. I felt the acting was great! I bought this movie to add it to my collection of Cillian Murphy movies.

    I loved this movie. I love any movie that Cillian Murphy is in. And im happy that i can own this great movie for a great price. And if you are considering to watch it then you need to know how to understand irish accents. Because it may be a little difficult to understand at first but if you pay attention then you will understand
