Keep your group together, use Rotosound strings.
I first put the RS 66 set on my brand new Rickenbacker 4001s in 1974. My affinity for piano bass tone was born. Even today the sound of a fresh set Rotosounds sets the bar for what should come next... tone, my tone. Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Steinberger, Kubicki, Music Man; four string and five string; fretted and fretless; all my basses sound best with Rotosound RS 66 sets. Always.

Those strings are amazing; their great quality helps them stay crisp and strong for quite a long time, even for those of you (like me) who slap your strings aggressively on a daily basis. The tone these strings provide cuts through the mix easily, thanks to it's funky/crunchy nature. Great sounding strings. Bright but highs are not overwhelming. Lots of mids and grind; great rock tone that Rotosounds are known for. Long string life as well, and good string tension (higher tension than DR HI Beams and D'Addario's. Only complaint is the roughness of the string makes for some difficulty with slides and shifting. Benefit from some GHS Fast Fret.

These are the best bass strings, period. Their bright sounds evoke the legendary tones that John Entwistle of The Who pioneered. Or, back off the treble a bit, and they work for almost any kind of music. They last a long time, too.
