In Disney's unabashedly silly talking-dog movie BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA, Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore), the ridiculously spoiled title pet, is swept away from her comfortable 90210 existence, when the impulsive niece (Piper Perabo) of her wealthy owner (Jamie Lee Curtis) combines dog-sitting with a vacation in Mexico. When Chloe gets lost south of the border, her scrappy Chihuahua admirer, Papi (voiced by George Lopez), embarks on a mission to bring her back home. While Chloe's pint-size dog in shining armor searches for his posh crush, she must contend with the rough-and-tumble side of life, learning a few important lessons along the way.Directed by Raja Gosnell, who is no stranger to dog-themed live-action/CGI flicks (see SCOOBY-DOO), CHIHUAHUA is an amusing diversion that is custom-made for canine lovers. Barrymore and Lopez are pitch-perfect in their vocal performances, and they are ably assisted by a bevy of Latino talent, including Andy Garcia, Edward James Olmos, and Cheech Marin. Although the film doesn't give its human actors a lot to do, it doesn't matter much, since the dogs are the reason for the entire show. In fact, the more the movie concentrates on its furry protagonists the more giddily entertaining it gets, as exemplified by a fun, fantastical doggie musical sequence that serves as CHIHUAHUA's undeniable highlight.

    Dogs really do talk after ALL!

    This 91 minute film tells about a pampered Beverly Hills chihuahua named Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore) who, while on vacation in Mexico with her owner Viv's (Jamie Lee Curtis) niece, Rachel (Piper Perabo), gets lost and must rely on her friends to help her get back home before she is caught by a dognapper who wants to ransom her. In the meantime, Papi (voiced by George Lopez), a male chihuahua who is in love with her is in pursuit of her. Papi's master (Manolo Cardona), a handsome young gardener for Viv, slowly develops a romantic interest in Rachel. Chloe befriends a lonely German Shepherd (voiced by Andy Garcia) who travels with her to protect her from the evil Doberman (voiced by Edward James Olmos) who wants to return her and her diamond collar to the dognapper.     Fun in Mexico, for low price.

    I recommenced this movie to any one who is a dog lover at heart. If you, a child, family member, or friend is a canine fan, than this is the movie for you. Synapse: Little princess Chihuahua gets lost in Mexico and has to find her way back to Rodeo Dr. Plus you can find this on ebay in Blue-ray format for a a steal of a price!

    Beverly Hills Chihuahua (Blu-ray Disc, 2009)

    Very funny movie, great for kids and the whole family. The Blu-Ray has a terrific picture and full Dolby Digital sound. We enjoyed the way the voices were "sync'ed" with the dog actors, it was very, very well done. We highly recommend this movie as a great, uplifting, family picture. If you are tired of all the violence and foul language in alot of today's movies, you'll be very happy you got this one!

    It's Disney...another FUN Disney Film!

    Being a typical Disney family fun film, this one is very entertaining. It even keeps the attention of a four year old throughout the movie. That says it all. The chihuahua may be a little short, but is definitely the BIG star of this film. Is it far fetched...of course it is. AFter all, it is another Disney fun film filled with lots of "ruff" characters. That was a cheap joke, but it goes along with the humor in this film. You'll enjoy this one.

    not outstanding.

    Average film. NOT great. Humor is weak. CUTE is the best way to describe it. If you are not really into dogs, save your money.
