The iPod would then not take any new charge, forcing me to buy a replacement battery. Upon opening the iPod it is clear someone has been inside before and has swapped out parts. When troubleshooting the issue with the iPod I have found out by using other spare iPods parts that the logic-board is in fact damaged as it will not accept USB or FireWire charging, overheating and causing further damage.
