    A Very Moving Film.

    Saw this as a child and bought the disc for Christmas for my own child -- 13 years. I have never forgotten this movie or the impact it had on me. Perhaps one of the things that make it so memorable is a rather shocking scene towards the end. This might not make it suitable for very young children. It is, however, a beautiful film that shows Scottish countryside at its best and sensitively portrays the bond between a man and his pet otter. I would rate this as a must-see for kids over the age of 9 or so.

    Wonderful movie about an otter as a pet!

    Living in London, Graham Merrill (Bill Travers) is tired of his job and the hustle and bustle of big city life. Then one day while eating out, he wins a large, raw fish in a raffle. While carrying it home, Graham accidentally drops it right in front of a pet store and a cute otter. The otter tries to get the fish through the glass but is of course unsuccessful. The otter catches Graham's eye, and he walks past him every day to and from work. Even though many people pass him every day, the otter always recognizes Graham. Finally, Graham buys him and takes him home to his apartment. Mij, as Graham names him, is a handful. He doesn't try to be bad, but he's so curious that he creates a mess. Graham's landlady doesn't allow pets and forces Graham to move. However, Graham is happy to leave ...

    Reunited with a well-loved product

    At home, I often have an informal open house for friends on Monday afternoons...we drink tea (with milk) and chat. A few weeks ago my friend Ann, who lives in an old water mill related the adventure she and her young grandson had investigating the old foundations of the millwheel. There had been a flurry as something large and damp scurried past their legs and slithered into the water givng them quite a fright...it was an otter. Hearing this, what else could I do? Immediately, clicking into e-bay, keeping my fingers crossed, I found a copy of one of the most wonderful films ever: 'Ring of Bright Water'. (For those who prefer to read, the book is equally brilliant). Don't you just love looking for things on ebay? Giving no hints,other than saying the story ...

    Wonderful Movie

    This is a great and very entertaining movie. I have own it before. I am afraid that the movie I purchased didn't work right. It locked up and skipped. I would buy the movie again.

    A lovely heartwarming story about a man and his otter.

    I loved the otter, what a little ham actor. The interaction between the actors was very good. Of course, having been born and raised in Scotland, seeing that gorgeous scenery was an added bonus. The sad part for me was that the little creature had to die so senselessly at a human's hand. I decided to buy it as I had seen the movie years ago when it first was released and then when I was on ebay looking for videos, there it was. Just had to buy it and have been watching it over and over again. Of course, I've been having a little cry over and over again.
