I've struggled with video editing using a mouse and this really makes reviewing video much easier. Being able to rock back and forth frame by frame and instantly advance or "rewind" as quickly or slowly as desired is very helpful. There's a bit of a learning curve adding new editing programs to the configuration software that comes with the hardware, but ultimately I made it work for me.
