I have bought 2 pieces of this capstan belt for my Tascam 38 from another vendor at the same time. They all have the same and correct length but this one is narrower than the other vendor's. I guess it would work but I have installed the wider one. The description should include the sizes, here they are: 390mm/15.35" length and 10 mm (0.39) vs 8 mm (0.315) width for this one.

Here is the issue. TEAC / TASCAM do not publish belt specs. Sellers of 3rd party belts get whatever is closest in the range that general belt sellers offer by size. I only buy belts from TEAC directly in quantity to sell and I sell them by part number. They are guaranteed to spec. That's why the pros buy these. Also one of the most important things is elasticity, which is basic for wow & flutter - are the 3rd party belts correct?

got the belt in sad part the motor is bad ..got it apart brushes are ok but the inductors are toast ..so it had two problems will rebuild the motor ,,inductors are 10 uh ,,teac needs to make better motors ,,me that worked at delco we made the best ,,,but thats long gone

Please send me a message - there may be other issues if the inductors have failed and worth checking for those before replacing those. Note to all - don't power up a TEAC X series deck or a Tascam with a belt drive DC motor until you've checked the belt hasn't failed sticky. Message before or after purchase for guidance and honestly the issue is not the motors so much as a lack of current limiting in the motor drive circuit if there is no tach output.
