I am extremely happy with my purchase. The book was exactly as described, arrived VERY quickly and was securely wrapped in bubble wrap inside a sturdy, good quality box. I appreciate the care that the seller took to protect it during shipping. Before purchasing, I had a question about the condition of the book. The seller not only answered my question, but voluntarily sent me a couple of detailed pictures that helped me tremendously. I would definitely buy again from this seller.

    VSX-822

Needed a good 5.1 systems for one of my TVs and the unit does fulfill that function with great sound quality. I was also looking forward to using the hookup located on the front of the device with my apple phone. To my dismay it did not work. I wish the remote control was a bit more intuitive and user friendly. Why is the volume knob on the right side?

  • For the price, I would buy it again.

This Receiver is awesome. The price point is great. The only reason for not giving 5 out of 5 is the number of 'old fashioned RCA' inputs. There are three and I will explain below the shortfall. Meanwhile, the number of HDMI inputs is great and all of them are supported with direct access by the remote. Now for the shortfall. One RCA input is only for Audio (e.g. dedicated for CD on the remote). Next RCA input is labeled DVD with corresponding remote button. Next the most problematic, is SAT/CABL with corresponding button. But there is also an HDMI input named SAT/CABL. So the SAT/CABL RCA and SAT/CABL HDMI are shared inputs. So here is the problem. I wanted to connect an old DVD player and a VCR player via RCA connectors. Since SAT/CABL is already occupied ...

  • Best inexpensive full featured Network receiver I have seen

Well priced receiver loaded with a lot of features. It is a bit of a learning curve to use, but if you are running mostly HDMI equipment and need a place to route it all to this works fine. Internet settings are not so easy to adjust. However, most outboard components are plug and play. Haven't gotten into room set up and won't until all of my surround speakers are mounted, but sounds great so far.

  • Great for the beginner!

This is a real good entry level surround sound receiver. I bought this hoping it would power my cerwin vegas but it was far too weak for that. Had to crank it very high to get any bass out of my vega tower speakers. My vintage Marantz 60 watt receiver made the vegas rock. In the low frequency range this is a shamefully weak receiver. I am using it with small cerwin vega surround speakers now and it does very well so for that purpose(highs and mids) you will not be disappointed.Just add a powered subwoofer and you're golden!

  • Inexpensive yet heavily featured true home theatre experience

I got this receiver about a month ago to replace my Phillips home theatre in a box system. I love this unit for the price, it's super capable , full of high end features, and pioneer quality is high in my estimation. I will offer "newbies" to true home audio some tips I learned after this vsx-822. 1) I was able to use my old theatre speakers, but quickly discovered you MUST have an active/powered subwoofer. This system will not push a passive sub. And after some research, none of the good ones do. So I bought a used set of Yamahas with a powered sub. Sounds great now! 2) if you are planning to pick up little independent radio stations with the tuner, you're going to need a better antenna than is included. You could get a cheap dipole antenna(which ...
