Started watching it during the HBO free period and didn't finish it. So, off to eBay to get the DVD set to do that! Interesting characters and story lines. Worth a watch... bot necessarily a binge but an episode a day in the evening post dinner.

One of the Best TV Series Ever
Six Feet Under is one of the best TV series ever produced. The characters are real and engaging. Everyone will see themselves in at least one of the characters. Be prepared. The humor is dark. It's about a very dysfunctional family who runs a funeral home. Each episode opens with a death that is handled by the family funeral home. Some are very creative. If you like great drama and some dark humor thrown in, you'll love this series.Six Feet Under is one of the best TV series ever produced. The characters are real and engaging. Although not "quite" on par with the Sopranos, this humorous dark look into very complicated lives is quite enthralling. The characters? 1 eldest son who escapes the family business only to return. 1 middle son learning to embrace and finally "come out" about his sexuality. 1 daughter who is struggling to find out who she is and finds that through her mother. The mother - newly widowed exploring her new life and her new boundaries. The father - now deceased - who can't seem to move on....only in the minds of his family....and boy did he have some secrets! Oh the complications and interweaving of personalities of a disfuntional (are they really?) family. When times demand it - they soldier together like Pattons Army. Complex? - yes. Amazing series, less than amazing box set.
If it weren't for the fact that one fourth of the DVDs have been glitchy so far -and I'm in the middle of the third season. I haven't been able to prompt myself to go further due to the disappointment each time I come across a glitchy disk.- I'd give it an excellent review. It is, in my honest opinion, the greatest television drama of all time. I can't imagine anything being able to surpass the depth in plot, character, and philosophical/religious exploration. The disks, themselves are not scratched in any way, there are just a bunch that don't play. An episode will begin and then it will stop. And nothing you do to try to get it to play will work. I was advised to take them to be buffed, but I don't think I should have to in the first place, and I ... For someone like her, who has never seen the entire series, this is devastating. She wants to move on to the second season, but she doesn't want to miss anything from the first. And in a series like this, each episode is crucial to understanding the development of the characters and the plot. I'm not satisfied with this purchase. As far as I'm concerned, I paid for a faulty product that I'll get little use out of. I'll probably wind up buying a second set somewhere else for more money. (I'm not even convinced this wasn't some sort of boot-leg, to be honest.)

A must see series
I fell in love with this show shortly after it debuted on HBO. I was immediately hooked. All of the actors are very talented and engaging. It is more addictive than a soap opera!. After several episodes in, I no longer had HBO, so I missed quite a lot. I was interested in purchasing the complete series from a retailer. Unfortunately, most do not carry this anymore, as the show ended over 10 years ago. I wanted to share this unforgettable series with my fiance'. I googled it. Amazon wanted too much money for it. I was able to locate some sellers on ebay. I must say, I am very happy with my purchase. It was a steal, as the series has approx. 63 one hour episodes. I cannot recommend this enough.
