In GOLD, a ruthless tycoon begins manipulating the price of gold on the world market, hoping to shift the odds in his favor. To further improve his chances, he also decides to sabotage one of South Africa's richest mines by having it flooded. In a very predictable movie, a rich tycoon begins to manipulate the price of gold on the world market. To make his odds better he decides to sabotage the biggest gold producing mine in South Africa and have it flooded. Roger Moore plays the mines manager, in an underachieved role, and he gets the drift of the plot to sabotage the mine. He begins his counter plan to save the mine and the miners working in it. Susannah York and John Gielgud co-star in support of Moore in the movie, and do a good of acting in a movie that is not suspenseful at all. Overall, this movie is good for a nights entertainment, however, once you have watched it-it will end up collecting dust in your collection. Recommended only for collectors of Roger Moore movies or collectors of Director Peter Hunt movies, who ... Good film, well acted with well known stars. Gritty, underground authentic looking sets. Filmed in South Africa a plus. Older filming process looks dated, but also adds to the gritty feeling. Overall good film.
