About this product

Product Information

Antoine Fuqua (THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS, BAIT) turns up the intensity level with TRAINING DAY, a charged drama about police corruption in downtown Los Angeles. Ethan Hawke stars as Jake Hoyt, a well-intentioned young officer who thinks he's found his ticket to becoming a detective in the form of undercover officer Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington). Harris is a notorious figure in the streets and in the office. He also has the authority to make Jake's professional wishes come true, provided Jake is able to prove his worth on Alonzo's team. At first, Alonzo's blunt, carefree demeanor provides a shock to Jake's optimistic system, but as it becomes clear that Alonzo is dangerously out of control, Jake must decide whether or not to risk his future in the name of the law.Washington's performance as the evil, pragmatic detective is a sight to behold. He delivers his lines with a devilish ferocity that keeps the film bubbling throughout. Hawke slips into the role of the rookie everyman with ease, providing a good contrast to Washington's fiery presence. Former video director Fuqua completes the picture by casting musicians Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Macy Gray in supporting roles.

The disc was unfortunately cracked in half in transit (as Canada Post tends to handle packages like this very roughly), but the seller promptly issued a refund alongside discussing better shipping options for future purchases. The price was definitely right for this game, but I'd highly recommend other buyers opt for the 25 cent bubble mailer shipping upgrade!

Nice seller and the controller matches the description! Accidentally didn't include the USB cable to charge it but they admitted it before the item arrived and shipped a second package for it.

  • Denzel is a bad boy

I really enjoyed seeing Denzel in this role. He plays a corrupt cop who influences a rookie to take part in his dirty ways. The movie features quite a few big name actors/actresses. Storyline overall is good, I thought it was well directed. You just don't know where the movie will turn next. You'll be asking yourself, 'how could it get any worse for this rookie cop?'

  • High-Caliber

This movie has enough action to keep you awake, but not so much so as to take away from the other aspects of the film. The plot is lively and includes several twists that aren't violent enough to cause seasickness, but are just right. There is a sprinkling of comedy and definitely some sexiness, too. The cinematography matches the film well. Ethan Hawke and Denzel are both great actors, and play their roles well. Coming from LA, I'd like to point out that the film seems to be a little bit of an exaggeration--but not that much, I'm sure. Get this movie, it's entertaining for anyone who is capable of being entertained.

  • You wanna go home or jail?

I remember being lent this on DVD during the summer holidays by a mate soon after it was out. I must have watched it every day/second day for about a month! I loved it so much I could never get enough. Denzel and Ethan are a perfect match for this movie; I can't imagine anyone else playing their rolls. Can you? You will either love this movie or find it just a way to 'pass a night'. If you connect with it then you'll never forget it. I know I haven't and I haven't watched it since 2002 because I can remember every part in detail! Training Day is one of those movies which breaks new ground in terms of how a movie can come across to people. It was filmed in such locations such as Imperial Courts neighborhood which, until now, hasn't been filmed. The talk is the talk... you get a real sense ...
