Sam Mcgee would be proud of this collection
Often overlooked, Robert Services works consisted of great honesty and earthy period comedy. A great depiction of life in the Yukon territories. With throngs of destitution, boot strap courage, yet warm realism which can only be categorized as invigorating. Amazingly anyone who reads Service's work can only come away with a sense of strength derived from perseverance and the hard work of Services's characters. This particular book has all of his great writings and poems from the infamous 'Cremation of Sam Mcgee' to poems of inspiration as in 'Comfort'and one of my favorites 'My Friends'. While there aren't a lot of illustrations, there's enough to connect the dots between imagination and actual. Robert Service's is an enjoyable and ...
