Great Surround Reveiver for it's price range.
I've been using a htr-5730 for several years now with no issues. Really good receiver for it's price range. Pros: Good tuner sound quality and sensitivity. Pretty clean sounding amp. I drove 4 ohm jbl speakers with no problems. I really like the ability to adjust bass and treble for the front mains while in a surround mode. 5 band center EQ is a nice feature. Tons of surround sound fields and adjustments. You can program different sound fields for individual inputs and it retains them. You can get into the menu and make adjustments with the buttons on the front of the receiver, so if you don't have the original remote you can still adjust individual speaker levels, sound fields, input menu, etc. There isnt very much that the remote will do that you can't do with the buttons on the face. ... Sleep timer. Cons: (nit-picking actually for it's price range) No tape monitor. No front A/V inputs. Wish it had an option to put the high pass crossover at 50-60hz. Don't really like the way the menu operates. Limited on what can be controlled with the universal remote.

5 years ago I purchased a Yamaha receiver that I still use to this day. I decided to buy a second receiver and pieced together a system that I now enjoy in my kitchen/dining room area. The features of this receiver are simple to use, and it performs exactly how I need it to. It is reliable, sounds incredible, and is attractive to look at. You can't go wrong with these receivers.

Great for Audio!
It only has composite inputs for video, so it's not the best in that regard, but it has three digital audio inputs, an analog 6-channel input, several stereo inputs and lots of sound enhancement options. I really liked the 5-channel stereo mode.

yahama receiver...thank Gad for a Harmony Remote.
Very simple, I understood that it was the receiver and that was it, it was cheap while suiting my needs. If I wanted something more powerful or more complete I would have bought something else, but this is a great was to simply do what I need to be done. Simple and Cheap. Side note: W/out a remote some people may have issues, but I have a Harmony...so needless to say I was in great shape.

Great Entry Level Reciever for Yamaha
Love that it offers lots of features while maintaining Yamaha's sound precision. Great package and an affordable price. This reciever will surprise you with all of its features and nice orange display.
