About this product

Product Information

Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen has been crafting his pioneering brand of high-speed, technically precise heavy metal since the early 1980s. Given his nearly symphonic style, it seems only natural that the guitarist would venture into the realm of classical music with his 1998 composition CONCERTO SUITE FOR ELECTRIC GUITAR AND ORCHESTRA. This concert film captures Malmsteen shredding his guitar over the accompaniment of the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra in a live performance of the classical concerto recorded at Tokyo's prestigious Sumida Triphony Hall in 2001.

A+. The cost for the dvd and shipping were combined, which was great. The item was in great shape, as described. Quick response from seller. Item was sent Canada Post, to save costs, during the Christmas season so it took much longer than usual. No fault of the seller.

Thank you! Shipping was very fast. The seller graded it merely as "good", but I think it may be "very good". The price was low. It was protectively packaged for transport. I highly recommend this most trustworthy seller to all buyers without hesitation!

  • A Masterpiece of Musical Expession!

I think that this set of videos are a work of musical genius! Any complaint in my humble opinion, relates to small details about sound levels, mic placement and overall taper...The arrangements and the performances are first rate! I am a "Boomer" to me this is about as high as Rock-and-Roll can evolve. I frankly love the sound of a properly cranked electric guitar and Malmsteen is a master! I also agree with those who claim to understand that some of the more "Progressive" classical composers, would lean toward composing ffor electronically blended tonalities for their full and chamber orchestras! If you are looking for flash performances - complete with assorted props and explosions - this ain't it! I have never witnessed a concert like this in person, the closest that I have, which I ...

  • I Love Yngwie Malmsteen

HERE IS AN AWE INSPIRING GUITARIST !!!! YOU WILL BE AMAZED BY YNGWIE! I Like how Yngwie has take the electric guitar to a whole new level by composing concerto music for an orchestra and virtuoso guitar. You will be absolutely blown away by Yngwie. He plays so fast and with a fire that no other guitarist before him has had. Yngwie has stuck to his guns and played the music in his heart since the early 80's. Although he has been criticized for mixing baroque music and heavy metal he is still touring the world today, while most of the other 80's guitar players have fallen off the face of the planet. This man is truly talented and it shines in every note he plays in this DVD. If you love awe inspiring guitar music this is for you!!!! This DVD is a must have for any guitar enthusiast ...

  • Yngwie J Malmsteen

An excellent DVD that mixes Classical music with an amazing guitarist showing off his skills. Sound is quite good, visual quality good. A must have for true Yngwie fans, a hard sell for the standard metal head. I have seen him live and this is a different setting by far but, the speed an skill are amazing, one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

  • Another smok'n performance from the swedish shredder!!!

I've been a Yngwie fan since 1985! I already had the concerto on CD but not DVD. I immediately purchased it the next day after seeing him perform some of the material in concert this past May. I love this DVD! The quality of the songs and musicianship is just AWESOME! It's very entertaining not to only watch Yngwie but the orchestra as well. I highly recommend this DVD!

  • ”State of the Art”

Nothing but a true delight. Deep Purple tried to. So did Metallica, Scorpions and many others, but Yngwie made it. A perfect fuse of symphony orchestra and a distorted guitar as a solo vehicle in the vein of classical and baroque music. However this is not only for the guitar nerds or the neo-classical scale freaks, this is for anyone who is even remotely interested in Music.
