About this product

Product Information

Return to the action with Persona 4: Arena from Atlus and Arc System Works on the PlayStation 3 (PS3), and pick up the story where the events of Persona 4 left off. Set two months after its predecessor, the game focuses on the disappearance of Teddie in Inaba and the efforts of his friends to find him, ultimately leading them to the P-1 Grand Prix tournament. Play through an engaging and immersive storyline complete with anime cut scenes from the Persona Team. There are 13 characters in total, extending beyond those featured in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 to include fan favorites from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 as well. With unique stories to unravel for each of the characters, the game offers hours of RPG fun. A new fighting system in Persona 4: Arena combines characters with their individual Personas, each of whom have independent health gauges. Throw the powers of each at the opponent simultaneously, and combine special attacks into combos, adding a strategic dimension to the game. Moves are taken from earlier Persona games along with status effects like confusion, paralysis, poison and fear. Controls are intuitive and simple while allowing for custom combos and imaginative deployments. Combos can be executed with a single button, for example, leveling the playing field between new players and skilled veterans. Special moves are also simpler to input, while the range of counterattacks and combo interruptions has been expanded. A “dodge” move has also been added to the “block” function from other games to add variety to game play. As another forgiving feature for newcomers to the game, as well as an added challenge to advanced players, characters and Personas become more powerful the closer they are to getting knocked out. Persona 4: Arena for the PS3 is packed with varied game modes to provide excellent replay value for when the main story has been completed. In addition to Story Mode, which has players complete the story from the perspective of one character at a time, Arcade Mode pits players against characters that are each more challenging than the last in classic Arcade fashion. Score Attack mode emphasizes speed and dexterity as players are challenged to show off their moves through a series of opponents. Training mode encourages practice against a CPU opponent with a custom skill rating, focusing on executing tough combinations with none of the pressure of the other game modes. Challenge mode is another combo training environment, while Lesson mode is intended for absolute beginners, introducing players to the features and techniques of the new fighting system. Multiplayer games are key in Persona 4: Arena, which was also released by Atlus for the Xbox 360, and players have the option to play offline against friends or computer-controlled opponents or online against players around the world. Also upgrade with a wide array of downloadable content via the Contents Market online marketplace and discover artwork and music and watch battle replays in the Replay Theatre & Gallery mode. Packed to the gills with game modes, characters, and all-new fighting features, Persona 4: Arena for the PS3 is a solid addition to the other games in the series. Developed by Atlus and Arc System Works, the game has enjoyed top ratings and enduring popularity across the PlayStation 3, arcade, and Xbox 360 platforms since its release in 2012.

Excellent fighting game with some challenging aspects!

Definitely follows the Persona storylines but in fighting game form. The fighting/learning curve is a lot less than the Guilty Gear series making this game alot enjoyable! But beware ,the story lines are long but compelling! Enjoy! The extra bonus music disc has an excellent number of jazz-dance tunes! Very very nice! Outstanding! ! ! Very Satisfied! ! ! :D

  • Visual Novel + Fighting Type Game = Fun?

Good game full of characters from Persona 4 and some new characters...well they're new only if your only Persona game before this was Persona 4 Golden. It's a fighting style game but it's also a visual novel type in Story Mode so beware of that. I get bored after unneeded dialogue, but there's constant voice acting, and it's the good type! You also play the game through everyone's point of view so you never miss out on playing as a character. The characters are fun, quirky, and hilarious!

  • Awesome 2D fighter

Persona 4 is solid 2d fighter with some quirky mechanics, the graphics and animation are better than Blazblue Chronophantasma, but not as nice Guilty Xrd on the PS3. This game is region locked, it will not work on a imported system. I have Japanese PS3 and tried this game on it, and gave me a region restriction message when I launched it. So do not try import the limited edition Japanese version of the game without a Japanese system.

  • Top notch fighting game for veterans and newbies!

This game is fantastic! The story mode is much more developed than other fighting game stories, even compared to other Aksys games. The fighting game mechanics are simplified, which I wanted. All of the special moves use quarter circle rolls, which makes it much easier to remember them. There are also a bunch of useful command normals (single button specials). Some people get annoyed that the throws require two buttons at once, but that can be easily remapped to a trigger. There is also a single button auto-combo for each character that allows beginners to do decent damage even just starting out. The game has a tutorial mode to introduce all of the mechanics and a challenge mode to teach combo mechanics and special features of each character. You can have the computer demonstrate the ...

  • Very nice game to play indivdually and locally, but not online.

The story mode is great for those who haven't experienced P4 or P4 Golden, otherwise it's pretty redundant. The only real new information comes from playing P3 character's stories, Naoto's, or Labrys's. Getting onto the real tragedy of this game is how unbalanced many of the characters are, Kanji especially. His grab moves do double what other characters are, and someone can simply do that to win the match. Yukiko, spam - fan throwing move. Hard to dodge, because if you miss the first one , the second one usually hits...and sends you flying back. Akihiko, has NO mid to long range abilities, and his pretty much screwed when it comes to long range battles, with his abilities not up to par to close the distance easily. The devs knew this when people questioned them in the forums and would ...
