    Bus Stop

    This lovely film shows Marilyn at her best. Playing against her sex kitten stereotype, she plays an untalented showgirl who can't sing, can't dance and is relegated to performing in seedy dives, clearly hired solely because of her stunning looks. The scene where we watch her perform is one of the most brilliant bits of comedy and innocence ever shot. Yet, everything we love most about Marilyn is there: her heartbreaking vulnerability; her desperate loneliness; her innate goodness trapped within a face and figure that men can't seem to look beyond; and the inner strength that fights to emerge.     Marilyn Monroe is a really talented actress, and this is a sweet show. Starts off seeming to be like SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS chauvanistic, but there's a veering off of direction and really nice ending. - Good service, good disc.
