This game made my teeth hurt.
It is true. This game frustrated me so much, my teeth started to hurt. Now I have been playing video games for a long time and I have played thousands of games, but I never had one that caused dental discomfort. Cyber-Cop looked cool when I read an advertisement and the back of the box. I liked the idea of infiltrating a corporate office with high-tech security. I also like the idea of customizing my character to specialize in different areas. I think the problem was that a game like Cyber-Cop was just ahead of its time and the current technology. It is played from a first person perspective, which from us who remember the days of Wolfenstein and Doom, the games were limited by the computer power available at the time. The Genesis wasn't exactly a system optimized to handle such a game that required a first person view. Not to say all the first person games on the Genesis were bad (Zero Tolerance is pretty good, considering), but Cyber-Cop just couldn't pull it off. The graphics are bland and lacking detail and the sound is subpar and the music is adequate, but repetious. All this could be forgiven due to technology limits, but it is the gameplay that really is nerve racking. You start off customizing a character and assigning attributes based on skills that your agent will need to infiltrate the enemy base. So far, so good. But when you actually start to play the game you will find that the controls are slow and very stiff. The objectives are not clearly presented, so you just sort of wander around until some security drone or creature kills you, which won't take long to happen. I wouldn't advise engaging the enemy since if you are damaged you won't be able to heal enough and any ammunition is hard to come by. Not to mention with the difficult controls, you will get your butt kicked quickly which makes the lack of any health or ammunition support that much more frustrating. I really tried to enjoy this game and give it the benefit of the doubt, but when my teeth began to hurt, that is where I draw the line. It has been awhile since I played this game and I didn't have the convienence of the internet to assist me. Maybe now if I play it, it might be a different story. But there are just so many modern games that do what Cyber-Cop tried do and do it much better, that I don't really see the need to.

Must own 16-bit FPS
This game is one of the very first FPS games on consoles predating Wolfenstein on consoles and Doom. It’s amazing what they were able to do with what they had graphics wise. Collectors must own.
