From the best-selling novel by Peter Benchley, Steven Spielberg directed this thrill ride of terror. During the height of beach season, the Massachusetts resort town of Amity Island is terrorized one summer by surprise attacks from a great white shark. Three unlikely partners team up to hunt down the rogue and destroy it: the new chief of police from New York (Roy Scheider), a young university-educated oceanographer (Richard Dreyfuss), and a crusty old-time fisherman (Robert Shaw). The film shoot was notoriously difficult for the young Spielberg, who had directed only one feature film before JAWS. The mechanical shark seldom operated correctly, and Spielberg was frequently forced to create the idea of terror without actually showing the shark. However, after the film premiered it went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time--surpassing THE GODFATHER and becoming the first film to gross more than a hundred million dollars. Composer John Williams created the score to JAWS, which has since become a well-known theme of impending doom. Ron and Valerie Taylor were responsible for filming live sharks in Australia; their sequences were later mixed with footage of the mechanical shark.

I too thought this beast has cause aremparal Damage. I laugh I cried for the collie ( felt i had too show off my scares too.) when that scene came on. the segals are the only winners here when jaws eats a airtank smiles gets blow up. I hated the mayor. The moral of jaws 1 is careful where you swim. the moral of jaws 2 might be kill all the great whites before they get more dogs & Kids ***Even precious Girls ON A SERIOUS NOTE THE MAKER OF THESE ... Jaws is 30 years old. This scary blockbuster film is a classic and one of the original horror films from 1975l It is an excellent DVD set for the fan of the scary film from Steven Spielberg. This film can be watched over and over and enjoyed by all. I loved the scene in which Brody said "We've gotta get a bigger boat" The look on his face was priceless. This was really one of the first disaster movies that were popular in the mid-70's. If you haven't seen this movie, buy it today and make sure you have lots of popcorn and someone to share this with! This movie has endured the test of time and is an all time classic film. It is suspenseful and scary and keeps you glued to your seat, even after viewing it time and time again. Starring Roy Scheider as Chief Brody Robert Shaw as ... Jaws is 30 years old. John's Jaws review
What can I say? This movie is a classic! I've seen it a few times but I love watching it with someone who's never seen it before. I like to see how they react to different parts. I've watched many of the "making of" DVDs for Jaws and I find it funny that if it was filmed the way it was supposed to be, it would have been a "good" film but not a "great" one. Also, I encourage everyone to read the novel because it's written differently than the screenplay. There's a whole love interest thing going on, but I won't spoil it. This movie has it's share of gore but it's the suspense that gets ya.What can I say? This movie is a classic! I've seen it a few times but I love watching it with someone who's never seen it before. Fish Story Is A Whopper
3 decades after it's release, still one of the best of all time. Seeing this as a kid, I had nightmares that my bed was floating in the ocean, and Jaws was out there going to get me. Just remembering the horror parts are enough to make me cringe, but seeing this movie again recently made me realize what a good story and what an excellent cast this movie brought with it. Roy Scheider will forever be remembered for the man who killed Jaws. What's amazing is the movie is scary, and you don't even see the shark for like the whole first hour of the movie, and it's still compelling. And the part where Richard Dreyfuss checks out that ship and the decomposed head pops out, I jump every time I see that. Extra deleted scenes, and the Making of Jaws are worth watching, even though no extras ... 3 decades after it's release, still one of the best of all time. I remember when this first came out and I wanted to see it so bad, but my parents wouldn't let me. So now I have it for myself and can watch it anytime I want to. This is one of those movies that you can watch over and over and it will still make you jump when you see that dang old shark. Everyone that wants a good movie should get this one...
