Old videos of great sons. An unexpected bonus of Ringo Star and George Harrison on the I Won't Back Down track. Another guitarist, who is also a member of the Traveling Willburys, is also along. A treat to see the Don't Come Around Here No More video. I'd never seen it before. They must have had a fun time making that one. The end product is comical, apro po, endearing, and just plain cute. Music Video's - Miniature Musical Movies Tom Petty and his Heartbreakers are a true "Legend In Their Time" I purchased this DVD because Mr. Petty became my all time favorite songwriter in 1979 surpassing Neil Young. (with the exception of "Powder Finger" Love you Neil!) It was Tom's "Law Suit Tour" and "The Wild One, Forever" that slayed my heart yet still having no idea of Petty Musical Magic yet to come. "The Waiting" was hardest part! Believe me, there is nothing "Petty" about this songwriter! Oh... except his last name. As I take Tom as a "Highway Companion" I admit I do not care about time. The gift of his songs keep coming on with the perpetual Heartbreak of his band lingering on! I love you Tom, your ... Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Playback
What can I say? This is Tom Petty. It's gotta be awesome! And it is! From his earliest videos to his later ones including "Don't Come Around Here No More", it is a fun video to watch. Petty was a pioneer in videos before even MTV. And his videos don't need all the visual hoopla to be entertaining. You just need Tom Petty and his music. He does have a few that are a little quirky, and the "Don't Come Around Here No More" video is plain off the wall but very imaginative! It is a take on Alice in Wonderland with Petty as the Mad Hatter. It's my personal favorite. There is also one with Johnny Depp as an up and coming star and Tom appears in the video as his roadie. Too funny! Look for Tom to be riding a motorcycle in this one with Depp on the back. ... What can I say? This is Tom Petty. It's gotta be awesome! And it is!
